DOES YOUR PACK, TROOP OR CREW NEED HELP?  HAVE YOU TRIED YOUR UNIT COMMISSIONER?

Unit commissioners are experienced Scouters whose job is to help you deliver the Scouting Program.  Unit Commissioners are the first and best source of help for your unit. Commissioners are district and council volunteers who help Scouting units succeed. They coach and consult with adult leaders of Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops and Venturing crews. Commissioners help maintain the standards of the Boy Scouts of America. They also oversee the unit charter renewal plan so that each unit registers on time with an optimum number of youth and adult members. Your unit commissioner is a link between your unit and the Northeast Iowa  Council.

See profiles of our Unit Commissioners: Commissioner Profiles

WE WANT YOU!! --  UNIT COMMISSIONERS

Unit commissioners are a vital part of a Units success. Former and current Scout leaders and volunteers make the best Unit commissioners.  A Unit commissioner helps his or her assigned units during the charter process, School Night and committee meetings, and makes regular visits to the Unit to ensure its success. A Unit commissioner is assigned one to three units, depending on the UC's availability.

If you are interested in becoming a Unit commissioner, please contact one of your District Executives or District Commissioner, Laura Bies.  Unit commissioners meetings are the second Monday of the every month at 7 p.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2155 University Ave., in the conference Room (1st floor). The Journey begins now….

JTE-White1

The Journey to Excellence program is the performance measurement and recognition program for councils, districts, and units. The goal of this program is to align unit, district, and council performance to maximize results in key performance areas that are directly related to producing a successful, growing, and sustainable Scouting program. The purpose of the awards program is to encourage and reward success in units, districts, and councils.

The Journey to Excellence program will measure your unit’s performance versus process; and help you achieve Scouting’s mission of serving more youth with a higher quality program.  This program brings a framework for planning the year, an evaluation method, provides early warning signs for unit health and guidance in areas of concern, recognition, and benchmarking your progress though out the year.  I highly encourage you to listen to one of the audio recordings and check out the resources available to you on Scouting.org. Click here to answer any Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).  Still not convinced about the program? Click here for Journey to Excellence "What's in it for me?"   Lost by the new Terms? Click here for Journey to Excellence Glossary.
